Pratik Pandharipande, MD, MSCI, is Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Pandharipande is board certified in anesthesiology with a subspecialty certification in critical care medicine.
Dr. Pandharipande graduated with a MB, BS (MD) from University of Nagpur in India in the 5th percentile of his class. After completing a Research Assistantship at the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Surgical Oncology, he completed an Anesthesiology Residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, New Jersey. From there, he entered and completed a Fellowship in Critical Care – Anesthesia at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Pandharipande's clinical focus is divided between OR anesthesia and ICU consultancy in the Surgical and Neurological ICU at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Pandharipande's interests are focused on sedation in the ICU focusing on the feasibility of a pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic model for sedation and analgesia in the ICU. He is also interested in the effects of a restrictive transfusion strategy in patients with traumatic brain injury.
